Are you looking to lose weight, but not in that count points/calories type of way! Well then I have the app for you. It’s called 80 Bites!
I downloaded it off of iTunes and in less than a minute it was on my phone and ready to use!
This is how it works: The 80Bites app is a sleek, simple, “pedometer for your mouth”. It’s easy to use: after every mouthful of food, just tap the “Bite” button. At the end of each day, check the Progress page. I’ll tell you how much you’re eating, when you’re eating the most, and how fast you’re chewing.
The point is if you are taking less bites you are eating less food. So according to this website it doesn’t really have anything to do necessarily with what you eat but how much you eat.
I’ve been using the app for the past couple of days as an experiment to see how many bites I eat a day.
On Tuesday I forgot to count my lunch and dinner. Wednesday though I tracked all of my bites. I got up to 54. Definitely less than 80. I’m really interested in seeing if that changes on the weekends, or how I am if I don’t exercise, etc.
80 Bites also has a 12 week plan online. Each week they give you a certain amount of tasks to complete. The 12 week plan is broken up in 4, 3 week sections: QUANTITY, FREQUENCY, QUALITY and BALANCE. Each week is broken down in 21 days because that is how long it takes for you to make a habit of something.
So far for week 1 here are my tasks:
Seems pretty easy right? I hope so! I can’t wait to see the different tasks each week that I have to complete to learn more about my body/habits! I think this is a great app so far and at the end of the 12 weeks I’ll be updating you on how my progress went and my final thought on the app/program. Stay Tuned.
