The Simply Bar Challenge

First thing first. I am back from HLS! I had a blast and I’m sure over the next couple of days you are going to get extremely tired of hearing about my trip and everything I learned but it’ll be fun and hey you might even learn something or two (:

Until then I have something more fun to talk about not just for me but also for you! (:
A couple of weeks ago I signed up for The Simply Bar Challenge. To qualify you had to never eat a simply bar before. Well I never had so I thought I’d take advantage of it and try a bar that I’ve been wanting to try but just didn’t get to it yet. PERFECT right?!

{by the time I picked up this package from my moms I had 8 waiting for me because I actually won a giveaway of them after I signed up for the challenge! (: So no you aren’t just seeing double!}

So what exactly was the challenge? The Simply Bar company sent me four of their most popular protein bars in exchange for my opinions on a survey. While they did provide me with the bars no other compensation was provided the thoughts below are mine.

Lets first talk about their four most popular flavors:
Peanut Butter Chocolate
Lemon Coconut
Caramel Peanut
Cinnamon Pecan
Yummy!

Now lets talk nutrition:

Check out those details! I didn’t know any of this until I received the information in the mail. I haven’t tried all of the bars above but I have tried Clif Bars and seeing how it compared next to Simply here surprised me.
Ingredients: They had like the perfect amount! I mean you don’t want them to have a  lot of junk right? but you do want them to taste good and not like chalk!
Protein: It had a good amount. I did some research and found on msnbc that this is the general rule when it comes to how much protein you eat a day: “between 10 percent and 15 percent of your total calories should come from protein. So, if you consume 2,000 calories per day, at least 200 should come from protein, or about 50 grams.” I don’t know about you but I usually eat bars before a run or as a snack and if it is giving me 16 grams of protein in just a snack! I’m in!
Calories: 160. Less calories and tastes amazing! Awesome!
Fat Grams: Most of the bars had double or triple the amount of fat grams!
Sugar: Now this REALLY surprised me. I mean how do the other bars even compare. They are like on another planet than The Simply Bars when it comes to that!
Fiber: More fiber the better!

It is all sounding too good to be true huh?
I thought so too! I thought they might taste like all the other protein bars that I have tried in the past that I take one bite and I’m throwing the rest out because honestly who wants to waste calories on junk? Definitely Not Me!
The first one I tried of course was the Peanut Butter Chocolate one.

The one thing I was surprised about was what it looked like when I first opened it up!

It reminded me of a rice krispy treat. Little pieces all glued together with amazingness. It was delicious! I honestly thought the Peanut Butter Chocolate ones would be my favorite because I love chocolate and peanut butter but it wasn’t. It was good but the Caramel Peanut one was BANGIN!

I mean toss out every other granola bar I own and fill my cupboards up with some Caramel Peanut good!
Cinnamon Pecan was pretty awesome too and to be honest I didn’t try the Lemon Coconut one but not because I don’t think the normal person would love them but because I had one to many lemon drops one night and I’m not a big fan of coconut and I didn’t want that one kind to change any of my views on the awesome other 3.

I think you guys get it: I loved these bars. Special thanks to The Simply Bar company for letting me try them. You guys are the best!

Oh man!!! They all sound totally awesome! I haven’t tried any, and I dont know if I could even choose a fave!! I guess the Lemon coconut sounds most interesting even though I’m def a peanut butter girl!! I sure hope I win!

Never tried but was researching and they looked like a great option for my gluten/lactose/casein intolerance…but the arent in my area :-(
