If you haven’t heard by now Hershey, Pennsylvania is definitely one of the sweetest places to be on the earth. In February the town is all about one thing: Chocolate!
All month long they have different activities going on for couples or families that include chocolate.

This is just a couple of their favorites. {screen shot from their website.}
This past weekend the PA Bloggers got the opportunity to go to one of their events! A chef demonstration.
Chef Mario Oliverio taught us how to make a couple of recipes: Chocolate Pecans, Chive Vinaigrette, Cocoa Spiced Braised Lamb and Pickled Red Onions.
All of the meals looked so yummy! My favorite part was the mirror above the chef. That is how we got to watch his every move. It was really cool. It kind of made me feel like I was in the audience of a food network show.
Okay maybe that wasn’t my favorite part because then we got to eat all of the delicious food but it was definitely one of my favorite parts!
Look at the plate I got to eat! That wonton there was sooooo delicious! I don’t know if I could ever make any of this stuff but the chocolate pecans {already did that! (: } but it was definitely fun to watch how a pro does it! I also learned that I cut my apples right which means I could maybe one day be a pro… right?
After everyone sampled the food the chef came around and answered any questions we had. I thought that was so nice of him!
I was tweeting some of the things the chef was saying during the demonstration so that others could also learn that weren’t there! I was kind of surprised when he said he never uses a microwave. Um HELLO! I don’t know how I would get through a day without a microwave. {I even make my grilled cheese in a microwave} I guess that is why he is a chef though!
Everyone that went to the demonstration got a packet of the recipes he showed us! Which is great. I got to watch him make it, see what it was like after he made it, tried it and now I get to try and make it!
It was such a great time and I learned a lot which is great! I’m always trying to learn about how to make different foods and well chocolate doesn’t hurt! A special thank you to the Chef, The Hotel Hershey and Hershey for giving us this opportunity!
If you live around Hershey you should definitely check out Chocolate Covered February. Here is the link to their calendar of events going on throughout the rest of the month!
Another special thank you to Steph from The Event Crashers for setting up this great meet up! I love this picture. It pretty much sums up a Pennsylvania Blogger! (:
Questions: Do you live in this area? Are you going to join the PA Blogger group on Facebook? Are you going to check out Chocolate Covered February in Hershey?

I didn’t hear him say he never used a microwave; I can’t imagine! My bother-in-law and his wife don’t own a microwave either!
that… amazes me!
I LOVE this post. I live in Jersey right outside of Philly. Don’t count as a PA blogger, but such a fun event/idea!! I LOVE Hershey
you could always join in if you want anyways! (:
Such a smart idea to tweet out his tips! I couldn’t believe he doesn’t use a microwave either! But I guess that’s why he’s a four star chef at Hershey and I call it a success if my food isn’t undercooked or burned. ;p I love the recap, there are so many fun things to do in Hershey!
So sad I missed this one but it looks and sounds like you ladies had such a wonderful time! I’m so glad!! Hershey really does everything right.
