It is hard to believe that one year ago I ran in my first 5K. My first race everrrr! ![]()
Now one year later… I ran it again! (:
Saturday morning I had to work the overnight shift at work: 2am-10am. It was pretty bad I had a hard time sleeping Friday and then well I had to work. I was excited though because right when we went off the air at 10 am I escaped from work and headed for Clipper Magazine Stadium for my Second Lupus Loop Race. {I’ve walked it a couple of times too} ![]()

We didn’t have that big of a turnout like we usually do but that’s because of some leadership changes. This is my annual race though… the one 5k I look forward to every year and I wrote about it in a post earlier this month.
I helped map out the running course since I ran it last year. It changed a little bit. Then it was time to start. Ready… Set… Go…![]()
{before the race}
I used my workout playlist.
{Not the typical playlist but I love these songs!}
We had to run a gravel track… and do that loop 3 times which was AWFUL! I hate doing loops but I kept going.
Honestly I thought about just walking this year a couple of times. My back was hurting from CrossFit my knee was hurting from Softball and I just spent my whole night working instead of sleeping and eating a good breakfast. I haven’t been worrying about my time for this race for weeks now I just was running it for the cause. I stuck it out though and ran it. The race was hard. It wasn’t the easiest course… I wasn’t really listening to my music. The one thing that got me through the race was thinking: “My Aunt {who has Lupus} has to deal with obstacles everyday.. she just can’t go the other route when she wants to… so even though I was hurting and I was up all night I could suck it up for 30 minutes and run.” I don’t have to face a quarter of the things she has to on a daily basis… this race was for her!
Before you knew it… it was over!
I recorded the race using Nike+ Which isn’t always accurate but I think the path was 3 miles instead of a 5K. Which was fine with me… haha I finished in about 24:15. Which meant….![]()
I came in first! (:
Now granted there were only 3 people that ran the race but how many other times in my life will I be able to say I came in first? haha. I got my first medal from a run! (: I had to do some Olympic style pictures. haha. Now that is definitely #FitFluential!
I had the best support system at the race. My family was there, one of my best friends was there, Eric was there at the finish line waiting. I couldn’t have asked for a better time.
It was a great race… for a great cause… and the weather held up for us!
Special thanks to DJC Productions who gives up their morning/afternoon every Lupus Loop to DJ for us. Joe plays the best “Call Me Maybe” remixes! If you are from the Susquehanna Valley area and need a DJ/Photographer. Definitely use this awesome production group!
Questions: Did you run a race this weekend? Is there one race you run for that is for a cause that is special to you? Have you ever got a medal? What is in your playlist?
Just another way this is going to be a Marvelous Monday!

Thanks to Katie for the linkup!

Bummer that they only had THREE (really? just three? is that a typo?) runners, races are a lot of work to put on. Congrats on a great time though!!
Nope 3 is what was there. The run was put together in like 2 weeks… next year there will be more! (:
You’re the best! Thank you for the shout out for such a great cause. I could not have put the way I feel into better words…….
My Aunt {who has Lupus} has to deal with obstacles everyday.. she just can’t go the other route when she wants to…
Some days I would like to take another route. But we keep going because we are winners! And you proved that! Thank you for all your support throughout the year and on race day. Many thanks to DJC Productions for donating their time and talent every year.
Love you!

I’ll probably never get it again so I have to enjoy the first place! (:
Congratulations on first place!!!
what headphones do you use when you run? I have tried three different types, and they all fall off my ears within minutes of my run.
Thanks! I actually just use my iphone headphones. sometimes they come out.. {stupid small ears haha} but I am actually getting a new pair of headphones that are like the best headphones for running that I am going to do a blog post about.. stay tuned! (:
Congratulations!
