National Peanut Butter Day! Yep you heard me right a whole day dedicated to yummy delicious peanut butter! Of course I have to celebrate by just sticking my finger into this here peanut butter jar.

Lets take a look at some fun tips:
-Peanut butter is a staple in over 90% of American households and the average person consumes more than six pounds of peanut products each year.
-Women and children prefer creamy peanut butter, while most men go for the chunky variety.
-A doctor in St. Louis created peanut butter in 1890 as a remedy for bad teeth. It became very popular with the doctor’s patients, but the oil often separated from the grainy solids.
-In 1933, a California packer was able to homogenize the peanuts into a spreadable butter.
-Did you know that it takes 550 peanuts to make a 12 ounce jar of peanut butter?
-Peanuts are cholesterol free and an excellent source of protein. In fact, it’s the high protein content that causes peanut butter to stick to the roof of your mouth.

Harleyyybear and Hunter are also celebrating. Harleyyy loves it! Hunter doesn’t know exactly what to think of it yet. He licks it and then his tongue goes wild… It is kind of funny!

Love all of the fun facts! When I was a kid, my favorite brand was Peter Pan, but now I love Trader Joe’s crunchy PB. My recent favorite PB recipe is this homemade PB on my blog…beware, it’s VERY addicting. http://www.hungryhealthygirl.com/2013/01/12/the-best-peanut-butter-ever-seriously/

LOVE peanut butter! Creamy is preferred and Jif is the only brand for me. My signature cookie is the peanut butter blossom, my husband thinks they’re better than his mothers! ;-)

I’m a creamy girl all the way. I didn’t know that National PB Day even existed. How does PB help teeth? U found that fact to be strange. Haha.

Jif was my favorite as a kid, but Joe and I stick to natural peanut butter now. We especially love Teddie unsalted, but all we were able to get on our most recent grocery store trip was the salted kind. Still, it was delicious in my shake this morning! :-)

I actually have an email with a list of away messages that I never wanted to lose if something would happen to them haha. I look at them every now and then and just laugh!

I did not know it was national peanut butter day until I opened my google reader. Leave it to other bloggers to fill me in on a national food day ;) I love overnight oats in an almost empty peanut butter jar. SO GOOD!

mmm oats in pb jars are awesome! I get the small pb jars sometimes just so I will finish them faster and be able to put oatmeal in them! (:
