Wedding Friday: Engagement Shoes

Guess what… Guess what! Today is Friday which means only one thing…

Last week I bought Eric and I a cute little gift and they finally came this week!

I have been wanting a pair of Toms ever since I saw the wedding ones on a post by Steph at The Event Crashers. They are so adorable but they even stand for something more! We’ll get to that in a second. So since then I wanted to buy Eric and I a pair to wear for our engagement photos. {the second half anyways. Check out some our engagement photos from the first shoot} andddd it happened!
 
As you know our colors are grey and yellow. So once I saw the grey ones with yellow bottoms I was sold!

I got Eric plainer ones so that he could use them all the time.

Aren’t they so adorable? I love them! They are a little tight on both of us… but Steph said they will stretch as you wear them. The shoes are going to definitely be a cute little statement in our pictures! (:

Now to the cool part about the TOMS!

Isn’t that awesome? I love companies that have such a big message like this! In the package they send you they explain their mission in a note. Just reminding you that because you bought these cute shoes another person is going to get a pair.
It makes the price all worth it!

Why shoes you may ask?
Many children in developing countries grow up barefoot. Whether at play, doing chores or going to school, these children are at risk:
•A leading cause of disease in developing countries is soil-transmitted diseases, which can penetrate the skin through bare feet. Wearing shoes can help prevent these diseases, and the long-term physical and cognitive harm they cause.
•Wearing shoes also prevents feet from getting cuts and sores. Not only are these injuries painful, they also are dangerous when wounds become infected.
•Many times children can’t attend school barefoot because shoes are a required part of their uniform. If they don’t have shoes, they don’t go to school. If they don’t receive an education, they don’t have the opportunity to realize their potential.

The shoes came on Wednesday and of course I couldn’t wait to give Eric the shoes in person haha. I left them on the bed with a little surprise note explaining the shoes and why I got them.

He was surprised. (: and loved them.
Next event on the wedding agenda: Take the second half of our engagement photos! (: Softball season should be coming to a close here shortly so I am hoping that we can squeeze in some time for them before it becomes too fally.
