Remember last wedding Friday when I was like ohhhh I’m going to get back to work on wedding stuff… Well that didn’t really work out as planned and its because I’m lazy! I did schedule the second part of our engagement pictures for Monday… But Hurricane Sandy is probably going to screw that up! Grrr. On Monday I am also planning a special date for Eric but that is probably going to get changed to… Can anyone help me with a backup plan?! Pahleaseeee!?
I posted looking for some cake ideas on my facebook page and got a couple of great responses! I still need to contact a caterer butttt I also found the most perfect wedding band for Eric. Hopefully he gets a chance to take a look at it soon to tell me if he likes it!
Okay so onto Wedding Friday.
Lets talk more about cakes! Shall we! There are so many decisions when it comes to cakes.. And well I have no idea what the heck I want haha. Tiers, decorations, flavors, fillings… When does it stop?! So I want your help!
I was checking out some websites near where I live for prices/flavors. I found this one that seriously has so many options its crazy. Lets just take a look shall we:![]()
Okay if this was my decision and if I was only thinking about myself I would pick…banana cake flavor, peanut butter filling and chocolate buttercream! Who is with me? Anyone? I mean obviously I can’t get that. I mean I’m sure there are other people that would love that.. But then others that would hate it! What would you pick if you could have anything? And What did you pick if you had a wedding?
I need advice pleaseeee!
Tiers. We are planning on having 125 people… Obviously give or take but most are family how many tiers do you get for that? 3, 4? How many people did you have and how many tiers did you have? I’m sure when we meet with someone they would give us the answer to this… But I’m just curious!
And what about decorations? Yes? No? I mean I’ve seen a couple on pinterest some are kept classy…

While others have cute little pictures like the birds…

I guess I would need to decide on one theme for my wedding to do that instead of a million like the direction my head is going!
What is a groom cake for? Does that mean the big one is mine? Haha.
Obviously I have a lot more questions than answers! So help a girl out!
Thankssss! You guys are the best.

yellow butter, white chocolate mousse or red raspberry, and creamy buttercream!! mmm!! need help tasting??? call me!!
I’d either choose the banana, or – for something more appealing to all – the chocolate chip, peanut butter, and chocolate buttercream. But they all sound SO good. Can you do different flavors for each layer? That way you get to try it all!
We got our cake from Sweet Confections (in Harrisburg) and I honestly can’t speak highly enough about it. It was probably the best cake I’ve ever eaten and I really don’t like cake.
Omg you should totally get at least one tier banana/PB/chocolate!! It sounds so delicious!! Can’t you make each tier a different flavor anyway?? I love all your wedding talk
Makes me wish I was getting married too! Haha
We’re inviting roughly 130 people and were told a three layer cake is plenty. The bottom of the cake is 14 inches around. If you want the bottom of the cake to be 12 inches around then youre better off with a four layer cake. I’m sad we’re done with our tastings and consultations, getting to try all the flavors was so much fun!
We got Vanilla cake with ricotta and raspberry preserves one two layers and ricotta and chocolate chips on two layers. We got a small 4 tiered cake and then a sheet cake. Sheet cake is cheaper per slice, and honestly I have only been to one wedding where there was no leftover cake, especially if you have other desserts. Talk to your bakery, they are usually very helpful! If they aren’t shoot me an email and I can help!
I think ur cake combo sounds awesome!! Id totally be down!! I know white cake and raspberry filling is really popular these days. I was in a wedding recently that did red velvet cake w raspberry, then they had banana split cupcakes and vanilla bean cupcakes. My cousin recently got married and did white cake w lemon filling. Of I were you I’d just choose you and your mans fave and something that would go over well, but dont try too hard to please everyone! Good luck!
We did a Rice Krispie treat cake
the tasting is the funnest part!
Great post! I bookmarked your site so I can look around when I have more time. I’m looking forward to it!
